More Than a Decade of Showing Up for Ohio

Since 2007, Healing Hearts Counseling Center has been walking alongside Ohioans through life’s hardest seasons. Addiction. Mental health struggles. Trauma. Re-entry after incarceration. Workforce challenges. Whatever someone is facing, Healing Hearts meets them there.

Founded and certified as a women-owned business, Healing Hearts has grown from a single location in Mansfield into a multi-site organization serving Richland County, surrounding counties, and Franklin County. Their team of licensed professionals and trained support staff delivers mental health counseling, addiction recovery support, trauma-informed services, and workforce development programs rooted in evidence-based care.

Their mission is simple and demanding at the same time: provide quality mental health and addiction services to restore and transform relationships, and do it in a way that is accessible to the communities they serve.

Room to Grow, Space to Serve

As Healing Hearts’ programs expanded and their client base grew, their existing facility in Mansfield could no longer keep up. They needed more space, not just to accommodate more people, but to serve them better.

The challenge was finding the right financing to make a building purchase work without straining an organization whose resources are dedicated to its clients.

How the SBA 504 Made It Work

OSDC partnered with Richland Bank, a division of Park National Bank, to secure an SBA 504 loan for Healing Hearts. The SBA 504 is a government-backed loan program that helps small businesses and nonprofits purchase commercial real estate with a low fixed interest rate and a smaller down payment than a conventional bank loan.

For Healing Hearts, the 504 loan meant they could purchase a larger building in Mansfield without overextending the organization. The fixed rate locks in for the full term of the loan, so there are no surprises, and the lower down payment kept critical cash available for programs and staff.

A Bigger Building. A Bigger Impact.

The new building gave Healing Hearts the space to grow their services and serve more Ohioans across Richland County and beyond. What started as a counseling center has expanded into a comprehensive behavioral health organization with a second location now serving Columbus and Franklin County.

That kind of growth doesn’t happen by accident. It takes a mission worth believing in, a team committed to the work, and the right financing to make a permanent home possible.
