OSDC 2012 PROJECTS OF THE YEAR

Lovejoy’s Market, LLC

Lovejoy’s Market was opened in 1950 in Plain City, Ohio, and has operated in several locations and by three generations of the Lovejoy family.  LoveJoy’s is a full service grocery store to the residents of this rural town northwest of Columbus.  Paul “Charlie” Lovejoy has owned and operated the store since 2001 when it relocated to its newly constructed building at 900 Village Boulevard that also houses several other retail businesses.

Lovejoy’s was able to take advantage of the SBA 504 Temporary Refinance program  and consolidate all business and real estate debt into a new long-term loan structure with the participation of Heartland Bank and OSDC.  This new financing structure enhanced the financial position of the company and supports Lovejoy’s commitment to continue to provide quality grocery goods and services to its loyal customers for generations to come.

Franklin Services, Inc.

Franklin Services, Inc., a Cuyahoga Group Company, provides on-site vending and coffee service to businesses in the Central Ohio area.  The Cuyahoga Group was started in 1988 by Jim Variglotti and provided candy, pop and snack vending to small businesses in the Cleveland area and has grown to offer a diverse line of vending products and prepared foods for a market area that includes over half of Ohio.  In 2000, Franklin Services was started to serve the Central Ohio market and grew from a small warehouse location in downtown Columbus to requiring a 28,000 square foot office/warehouse building in Groveport, Ohio whose operations are managed by Vince Variglotti.

Franklin Services utilized financing through OSDC’s Ohio 166 Regional Loan Program in partnership with Buckeye Community Bank that provided an attractive financing package to purchase the Groveport location.  Today, the Cuyahoga Group Companies serve over 1,000 customers that range from small to large, private to public, and include hospitals, prisons, colleges, machine shops and manufacturers.
